More cards for the Silent Auction

In addition to making a pack of very feminine cards for the auction, I thought with Father's Day coming up, a pack of masculine cards may sell well too. I used the the current Truly Tailored line as well as a bit from the Guy Greetings set. These aren't quite as busy as the previous pack of cards but I didn't want these to be overly done either so I went with simple layouts and fun papers instead.

Paper Pumpkin Cards for Earth Day Faire Silent Auction

My son's school is having an Earth Day Faire in place of a spring festival this year but they are sticking with the traditional silent auction. Yay! We've gotten some amazing things at the auction in the past and it's giving me the opportunity to showcase a few cards. The first pack I made were feminine cards all from the March Paper Pumpkin kit. I thought these would be great for birthdays and Mother's Day. I used a combination of the kit contents and some additional cardstock to turn them into standard A2 (4.25x5.5") cards. I could have stuck with the note cards they came with for some but I wanted to make them consistent and I wanted to use the envelope images on some cards instead.

Let me know if you're interested in getting the Paper Pumpkin kits for yourself. Right now they're running a great deal for anyone who hasn't ordered PP in the past- your first two kits are 50% off!

Picture Perfect Birthdays

I can't believe it's been this long since I posted. I could have sworn it's only been 2wks. I'll get better at this posting thing sooner or later.

So. Just because I haven't posted doesn't mean I don't have something to share. I wasn't sure if I was going to get Stampin' Up's Picture Perfect products. I really like it but it's not the type of look I usually go with. However, I thought I'd give it a try and I'm really glad I did. At this point I've done a lot of CASing just to get a feel for it and to make a few quick cards. Unfortunately I can't find the source for two of them but the third is from StampinBJ.

It's a very easy line to use with the fun graphical papers. Drop me a line if you're interested in getting some of this for yourself- it'll be available through the end of May. Personally, I think I'm going to have to pick up a 2nd pack of this paper to have for the long-term.

Ink: Archival Black, Berry Burst, Peekaboo Peach, Tempting Turquoise

Bountiful Masks

I decided to jump in on PTI's Make It Monday #313 today. The challenge is to use a bunch of duplicated, masked images. Well, I ran into the same problem I had the other week- I don't have a lot of PTI stamps that work for this type of challenge so you may recognize these roses. At this rate, I'll have a stack of cards for my MIL. lol!

I duplicated and masked off the roses repeatedly. If I were to do this again, I'd probably hand-cut my masks. Since the cut from a thinlet/framelet is usually a bit larger than the stamped image, you're left with the white edge around the images like I have on this card. In some ways, it's good because it helps delineate between flowers. In some ways it's distracting since the edges aren't consistent. Ah well. It's a feature.

Epic Celebration card

When I saw this Sale-a-bration set, I knew it was going to be my first pick from the freebies. I love the Converse and the rest of the images sing to me almost as much.

I think it still needs something to help anchor it a bit more but I haven't identified it yet. The rhinestones I colored with Copics helped a bit but something else is still missing.

Scrapbook and Cards is running a sketch challenge this month that I based this on. I'm also entering it at 7 Kids Customers Create for the weekly challenge (Rainbow theme- I used Copics.)

This is a GREAT time to try out Paper Pumpkin

Are you familiar with Stampin' Up's Paper Pumpkin or have you tried it? I imagine at this point you've at least heard of it. After all, they're celebrating their FIVE year anniversary in March! I have to admit. I got a few of the VERY early kits when it first started and I didn't stick around long. For $20, I got kits that made 4 cards each and they were... what's the word? Weird? I tried it out again maybe two years later and I wasn't wowed but it was better. I definitely felt like I was getting more bang for my buck. However. Now. They've definitely come miles from where they were. The kits regularly make 8-12 cards, sometimes they have small favor packaging and sometimes both. There's always plenty left to use with other projects you might have and there are LOADS of ideas on the internet for alternative projects if the ones the kit has instructions for aren't your style.

These are the contents of the February kit.

Every kit comes with a set of stamps and an ink spot as well as instructions and a rather ridiculous amount of supplies. They come monthly, usually shipping somewhere from the 10th-13th and you have to subscribe before the 10th to get that month's kit. Paper Pumpkin kits make fantastic, easy to give gifts, either as a purchased kit wrapped up or subscriptions. Subscriptions can be purchased month-to-month, for 3mos., 6mos., or 1 year (all options go month-to-month once done unless cancelled which is easy to do if desired.)

Every month is a surprise but I can tell you that the March kit is supposed to be a doozy since it's the 5th anniversary one. I have NO idea what we're getting but there's supposed to be a special gift included in each and every kit.

An added benefit of ordering a Paper Pumpkin subscription right now is that Sale-a-bration (SAB) is also going on. For every $50 you spend, you can get a free item from a catalog of pre-selected items and 3 new items were just added last week. SAB lasts through the end of March.

Yet another benefit of being a subscriber is that you have access to some previous kits and kit refills from the Stampin' Up site. It's a great way to pick up kits and refills for them if you missed something you simply HAVE to have (and there are some GREAT ones out there!)

You can find more info about the Paper Pumpkin subscription and see past kits here: Stampin' Up Paper Pumpkin and see the Sale-a-bration items here: SAB items.

Please drop me a line if you're interested in more information about Paper Pumpkin kit or anything else! You can shop with me by clicking "Find a Demonstrator" at the top of the shopping page, selecting "Find My Demonstrator" and first name "Jen" in "Clemmons, NC." Jen Gerwig-Dively should pop up for you to select.

Papertrey Ink Stripes Challenge

Well. Here it is. The final PTI Anniversary challenge. This time the challenge is to use stripes as the resemble "11", the number of years PTI has been in business.

A fabulous lady shared some sets she'd received for free and I was lucky enough to get one. It's PTI's 2016 Customer Appreciation "Celebrate Big" set. For stripes, I planned to use a striped embossing folder until I realized I don't have one. Oops. Instead I used stripes of striped washi tape. That's lots of striping.

Ingredients:
Stamps & Dies: PTI Celebrate Big
Ink: SU Bermuda Bay
Paper: SU Whisper White, Bermuda Bay
Misc: Unknown washi, Colored pencils

Papertrey Ink Color Challenge

And the challenges just keep on coming! Day 8's challenge was a color challenge. There were about 10 color palettes to choose from and I used this one.

I don't have many PTI inks or much paper so I used Stampin' Up paper that was as close as I could match. I think it's pretty close actually.

I used the "Text Block: Party Time Die" and pieced the balloons back in. I was going to piece white paper into the background but decided to rub on some very fine glitter instead which I really like the look of. I tied a little string of sequins in half with a bit of the holographic thread I used the other day.

Die: PTI Text Block: Party Time Die

Papertrey Ink Dies Only Challenge

This card is an entry for PTI's Day 7 Anniversary challenge and it was a pretty creative challenge: make a project with dies only- no stamping.

I used the "Cover Plate Mighty Bloom Die" and Shine from "Sparkle and Shine Words Dies." I thought about going with a rainbow of colors but decided to make it more of a schnazzy birthday or encouragement card so I used metallic foil papers for the leaves and word. The silver foil Shine is layered on top of 4 black layers.

Papertrey Ink Floral Challenge

And yet another Papertrey Ink challenge. This one was to use florals, something I'm not usually big on and have never purchased from PTI. I guess it's lucky that there are flowers in some Christmas sets I've gotten. I used the roses from Wonderland and leaves from Color Pop Autumn. I may go back and add the framing bits on the vertical sides also. I cut and layered three "amazing" pieces for height.

Ingredients:
Stamps: PTI Wonderland, Color-Pop Autumn

Ink: SU Rose Red, Powder Pink, Berry Burst, Garden Green, Old Olive, Lemon Lime,
Paper: SU Whisper White, Rose Red, Powder Pink
Misc: SU Amazing & stitched oval die, Memory Box die

Papertrey Ink Retirement Set Challenge

I gave another PTI challenge a try. They posted a rather robust list of sets that will be retiring and a challenge to use one of those sets. I hate to admit it but I've never used my City Scenes stamps or dies including the soon to retire "City Scenes sentiments." I was going to turn this into a Valentine's card but I couldn't figure out a way to make any of the sentiments work so I went for a general "thinking of you" kind of card.

Ingredients:
Stamps: PTI City Scenes, City Scene Sentiments Paper: SU Whisper White, Soft Sky, Lemon Lime Twist Ink: SU Rose Red, Real Red, Powder Pink, Summer Sun, Cherry Cobbler, Lemon Lime Twist, Garden Green, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Going Grey, Basic Black

Papertrey Ink Anniversary Sketch Challenge

Papertrey Ink is celebrating another anniversary and it's a great opportunity for me to start posting again. The first challenge day, PTI posted a bunch of great projects and sketches made from them. The challenge was to pick one of the sketches and work from it.

This is the sketch I chose:

I used the Out of this World Mini Make-It Market kit and switched from six to four featured items on it. The sketch shows a stitched edge die which I thought I had. Yeah. Not so much, at least not a rectangular one. I decided to go full-on nutty and instead hand stitched the edge with a holographic poly thread that I picked up two years ago for a PTI Stamp-a-Faire challenge. It gives a nice shimmer to the card.

Ingredients:
Stamps: Out of This World
Paper: SU Whisper White & Night of Navy
Ink: VersaMark, SU Rose Red, Real Red, Powder Pink, Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy
Misc: Sulky thread, Dimensionals, SU White EP
